The Mui Wooden Smart Display Takes CES Innovation Award

The Mui, a wooden smart display, was able to grab the CES Innovation Award this year and it’s easy to see why.

This smart display forgoes modern lines of design and instead looks like a simple block of wood, easy to integrate into homes that don’t want to look like a trade showroom.

Using IFTTT, you can connect the Mui to a host of smart home devices from Nest to Philips Hue or Sonos and then tap or swipe to control those devices.

The Mui also features a dedicated Google Assistant button, so you still have that option, only you have to press a button instead of saying “OK, Google”.

Taking to Kickstarter to raise money for this “calm device display,” its makers managed to raise more than $110,000 last December and are now back on IndieGoGo for additional funding.

That means you can snag it at a discount there, on Indiegogo On Demand, for $549, and get it by the end of the year like the Kickstarter backers.

Once it launches, the Mui will go up to $1000, so that’s a pretty good deal.
