Watch Two Nanotubes Uniting In A Wire Thanks To Tesla Coil!

A team of researchers from Rice University managed to unite two carbon nanotubes in a long nanowire with the help of a custom-built Tesla coil #todaymagic

The team calls their method Teslaphoresis and believes it could help create new types of self-assembling circuitry in the future. In the video above, you can see how the nanotubes react under the influence of the electrical field. They simply light up the diods , with each passing second more, until the LEDs brighten up.

Besides assembling themselves to form nanowires, they don’t rely on any power source component to achieve the feat. Researchers say that a “tractor beam-like effect” emerges too, causing the wires to stretch over  significant distances.

Mesmerizing, right?
