In 2013, a project that could have completely changed the way we experience now VR, was “hitting” Kickstarter. Unfortunately, there were not enough backers to make it a reality… but for what it’s worth, we still hope ARAIG will happen in the near future, one way or the other #realitymagic
We talked about the VOID earlier today, a VR themed park that allows you to experience gaming environments in a hyper-reality realm, where VR overlaps with physical environment. To enter the VOID properly, you need a virtual reality headset, a gaming special vest and even tools. Another type of wearable would have made raves in 2014, if project ARAIG would have passed the Kickstarter “test”. We’re talking about a multi-sensory feedback suit that stimulated the senses up to the point where you, the gamer, felt like an active participant in the game.
It’s like taking 4D effects with you, in your personal livingroom. Thanks to integrated surround sound, haptic feedback on torso and upper arms, you could have felt the rain on your shoulders, the sound of debris and tanks marching.
A Decoder would connect to your gaming device and send the data to the ARAIG exoskeleton that would reenact every sensation from the game. The suit could have been personalized to match our favorite anti-hero or superhero. Sounds good, huh? Let’s see if it’s gonna hit shelves in the next couple of years.
