Working out doesn’t have to be all pain, no gain. Instead, it can be an opportunity to discover fantasy worlds, as Holodia showed with its VR-powered cardio workout #realitymagic
The French start-up has developed a project called Holofit that enables gyms and hotels around the world to offer their members an immersive VR experience while working out. The idea is that you’ll get less bored on a spinning bike or even row machine if you use them to explore VR environments. There are 10 landscapes where you can work out and move around simultaneosly: Tropical, Babylone, Aiguebelette Lake, Cosmos, Antarctica, Saturn Rings, White Forest, Under Water, Canyon and Skies. You can also opt for a personal fitness coach and online and multi-user support.
As for hardware, Holofit puts at clients’ disposal a HTC Vive head-mounted display and high-performance PC. You simply use head movements to get around. As for the fitness machines, you can rely on Concept 2 and Life Fitness devices.
So far, businesses in France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Germany and United Kingdom can order the solution but Holofit is set to spread around the world, including North America, Asia, and Middle East. See where Holofit exists.
