Wondering what George RR Martin was up to while half of the Internet was mourning the fate of Game of Thrones characters?
Wonder no more and be very unsurprised about what the author might feel like doing next.
A security flaw on Namco Bandai’s website spilled the beans in the biggest E3 2019 leak we’ve seen so far and revealed that George RR Martin is working on Elden Ring.
This is the name of the next project from FromSoftware, the highly acclaimed game developer behind the Dark Souls series.
For those unfamiliar with it, Dark Souls is arguably one of the most unforgiving adventure games, pitting players against monsters and other players in incredibly difficult combat scenarios, where death happens at least every few minutes and every mistake is punished.
If George RR Martin wanted to bring Red Wedding scenarios to the world of video games, then FromSoftware is probably the best studio to bring his dark imagination to life.
The flaw was that anyone could access Bandai Namco’s game pages for the 3 titles that leaked, without needing a password or anything.

That’s how the 3 games leaked. They were posted on 4chan, discord and twitter before making their way to forums and news outlets.

The leak didn’t reveal much about the Elden Ring other that it’s coming on major platforms (PC, Xbox One and PS4) and that it’s an action RPG.
For FromSoftware fans that’s more than enough because the studio’s titles (Dark Souls, BloodBorne) were all action RPGs and all very gruesome, with dark fantasy settings and medieval fighting that was both realistic and truly punishing.
