Those looking to get their own Windows Mixed Reality headset should definitely take a peak at the Acer OJO 500, newly-unveiled at the IFA 2018 conference among other Acer goodies.
Two 2.89-inch displays with a 100-degree FOV and 2,880 x 1,440 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate will be responsible for your entertainment, while a a built-in IPD wheel and complimentary app will let you easily calibrate the screen.
Featuring a detachable design which lets you remove the lens and the head straps, you can store and clean the OJO 500 quite easily. That’s a bonus for businesses that want to feature mixed reality headsets for their customers, according to Acer.
The convenience factor is also upped by the fact that you don’t need to remove the headset when taking a break, as the design lets you flip up the mask and also removes the hassle of headphones. The Acer OJO 500 instead relies on an unique soundpipe, which directs the sound from the built-in speakers to your ears and lets you remain aware of your surroundings.
To enjoy the Acer OJO 500 and the wonders of mixed reality experiences, all you need to do is connect the headset to the HDMI and USB 3.0 ports on your Windows 10 PC. Fortunately, the 13-foot cable will let you have a wide degree of freedom.
The Acer OJO 500 will launch in November for $399 in the US and €499 in EMEA territories. Before considering a pre-order, do check out if your current PC can handle it.
