AirPods 3 will not come with only an upgraded chip and improved sound technology but also a health feature that could keep heart problems under control and even, at bay.
Rumor is in one, two years, Apple’s earbuds will monitor heart rate and use it in conjunction with the Health app to extrapolate possible health conditions that the user is facing or is in danger of.
How would that happen? Apple is said to explore the use of ambient light sensors to scan your heart rate. This type of technology keeps an eye on the change in light as it bounces off blood scells. These changes can be translated in a heart rate and be recorded by your Health app.
Although it is a rumor, this new addition to the AirPods is not as far-fetched as you may think. Apple has previously filed patents regarding this use case.
And, after all, this kind of feature has been seen before on similar earbuds.
The AirPods 3 are expected in the second half of 2021, though. This year you’ll have to settle for the AirPods Studio, a new set of over-ear headphones from Apple that we talked about here.
Just keep an eye out for them at the WWDC conference next month!
