Years after expressing its desire to replace human workers with robots, or at least achieve a perfect symbiosis between them, Amazon now reveals first its fully autonomous mobile robot.
Called Proteus, this robot is so smart it can actually navigate around human employees and doesn’t have to be caged like previous models.
In Amazon warehouses, Proteus will pick and move products around. Amazon says the robots have “advanced safety, perception, and navigation technology” and, after seeing this video, we are convinced.
The video above shows Proteus shining a green light in front of it – if a person steps into the beam, the robot stops moving and only resumes its task if the person walks away.
Put that in a robot vacuum, please!
