For Apple users, the wait for the wireless charging mat AirPowered was long. Fortunately, a new report points to an imminent launch.
According to DigiTimes, a website focusing on tech supply chains, the Apple wireless charging mat will be here later this year.
“Glass passivated package (GPP) bridge rectifier orders for Apple’s AirPower continue to pull in, according to sources at related suppliers, who expect shipments for the wireless charger to boost further once it becomes available later in 2019.
[…] Lite-On Semiconductor has been shipping GPP bridge rectifiers for use in the forthcoming AirPower for over a year, the sources indicated.”
As we reported last week, another supply chain leak happened earlier this month and said that AirPower is due in 2019.
The AirPower wireless charging mat was announced in September 2017 immediately after the iPhone X debut. Most also expected to get a launch date during the iPhone XS launch but Apple said nothing about the anticipated device.
Now, with multiple sources pointing at a mid 2019 launch, it’s possible that Apple will make an official announcement soon.
