Apple Mistake Reveals New iPhone Specs

Inside Apple’s Xcode developer environment, there lies a list of target iPhones. On that list one can find the current and the future iPhones the company is preparing, but Gui Rambo on Twitter has also discovered a reference concerning an unreleased ‘iPhone xx’ in the app.

The ‘iPhone xx’ reference could mean a lot of things, even a name given to an internal test unit that might possibly not even be a future iPhone to begin with. It could also prove to be an iPhone 7 that would be cheaper to build.

According to Gui Rambo, the processor associated with the iPhone xx is the A10, which is the same chip used for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. This comes as a bit of a surprise because, even though Apple is expected to release three new iPhones in the coming weeks, not including an A12 chip in at least the mid-sized budget model would not be a move we’d expect from them.

The entry is already giving voice to speculation and it will definitely be factor in increasing the hype surrounding the September launch.
