After a long, seven-year trial, Apple has finally won its legal battle with Samsung this week. The latter was accused of infringing three Apple design patents and two utility patents. While Apple sued for a billion dollars, Samsung was only ruled to pay Apple no less than $539 million for the patent infringement.
Apple’s legal involvements aren’t quite over as they have another lawsuit to deal with. It turns out that Apple knew the iPhone 6 Plus was 7.2 times more likely to bend than the iPhone 5S while the iPhone 6 was 3.3 times more susceptible to bending. Yet, Apple shipped the phones regardless.
Apple was also sued in the past for slowing down the performance of older phones. This decision was made so that the phone could keep up with declining battery line, but meant that users had to pay $79 to replace their iPhone battery in out-of-warranty replacements. Apple is refunding $50 credit if you made that purchase to cut the rate down to $29.
The refund applies worldwide and you can read more about it here.
