Apparently, Apple plans on developing a Tile-like tracking device. It remains a mystery what innovation the company going to bring to the products.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company plans to integrate the ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, which will help tags to have a significantly better performance than the competitors.
The UWB really makes the difference, because currently, tags pinpoint an object’s location to a16 feet area. Due to the fact that the UWB technology can allow two compatible devices to calculate the interval of time in which the signal travels between them, is also able to reduce the area to less than a third, as a consequence.
Of course, in order to work, both devices must feature this technology.
According to Kuo, Apple will integrate the UWB technology to all its new 2019 iPhones, with the promise that Apple will integrate the protocol into its other devices, like the AirPods. Older Apple devices, however, will be left out and, therefore, rely on Bluetooth LE technology.
