We expected to see a few truly wireless in-ear headphones at IFA 2019 but not quite so many!
Audio-Technica is the latest company to launch truly wireless earbuds and the fact that this is one of the most respected audio engineering companies around should make you perk up your ears.
While they’re not sporting a catchy name, the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS5TW and its ATH-CK3TW sibling both come with Auto Power On/Off, so they’re going to pair with your smartphone as soon as you remove them from the case.
Both also share Bluetooth 5.0 wireless tech and Qualcomm cVC Clear Voice Capture for sound quality during conversations, they charge via USB-C and proudly sport IPX2 water resistance ratings that go great with intense workouts.
Now let’s see how you can tell the ATH-CKS5TW and the ATH-CK3TW apart.
First off, the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS5TW retails for $149 and is the premium option.
With a 10 mm driver with a dual-layer diaphragm and aptX, SBC and AAC codecs compatibility, sound quality is unquestionable.
For autonomy, the ATH-CKS5TW earbuds offer a total of 45 hours of playback – 15 when fully charge and an extra 30 held in the charging case.
In case you misplace them, you can locate the buds using the Audio-Technica Connect mobile app, the same app that lets you fiddle with the settings and control playback.
The Audio-Technica ATH-CKS5TW come with the charging case and the USB-C charging cable, silicone eartips in four sizes to fit any ear and 3D ear loops supports for extra security.
They’ll also be available in blue, khaki and black, so they’ll easily match any fitness outfit you own.
Meanwhile, the Audio-Technica ATH-CK3TW will go along great with your other outfits, whether business or casual, being available in white, blue and black at the $99 price point.
They feature 5.8 mm drivers, Qualcomm’s TrueWireless Stereo Plus for stable audio streaming and aptX and SBC codecs.
Like most everyday wireless earbuds, these tiny babies have touch sensors for controlling audio, calls or volume, and they also have Google Assistant and Siri integration.
With six hours per full charge and an additional 24 hours in their case, they’re definitely much more casual use than the big brother ATH-CKS5TW.
Even though they were announced together, Audio-Technica’s wireless in-ear headphones will launch separately.
This month, the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS5TW will start shipping. Then, in November, you will also find the Audio-Technica ATH-CK3TW at retailers.
