BeoSound Edge, Bang & Olufsen newest and craziest speaker yet, is as edgy as the name suggests. Ironically, it’s circular in shape.
This year, at IFA Berlin, B&O is offering a shocking new way to interact with a home speaker and we’re loving everything about it! The BeoSound Edge looks like a huge checkers’ piece, mean to be put on the floor or hung on the wall. But that wasn’t where they got the inspiration for it; a UK pound coin was actually the muse for this design.
What’s important though is how you interact with it. To turn up the volume, you just have to roll it. Thanks to a built-in gyroscope and accelerometer, this speaker can actually understand your motion and take the sound up a notch.
Crazy thing about Bang & Olufsen’s BeoSound Edge speaker — you adjust the volume by rocking it back and forth. There’s a gyroscope and accelerometer inside, plus springs to help it find its way back to center. #IFA2018 pic.twitter.com/rShI8AJTKh

BeoSound Edge has 3- to 4-inch tweeters, 4-inch mid-range speakers and a 10-inch woofer bass driver. As you can expect, you won’t be disappointed by the sound. The speaker can blast music if you connect it to Bluetooth, from the Chromecast streamer that is built-in or via AirPlay 2.
That’s not all though – the device can recognize you. Well, in a way. When you approach it, the controls will light up and the mobile app will be able to direct the sound in a direction of your choosing.
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably hunting for the price and release date right now. Don’t worry, i have you covered – BeoSound Edge arrives at the end of next month at a staggering price: $3,500.
Magic has its price.
