Boston Dynamics Robodog Opens Doors Like Nobody’s Business

Boston Dynamics is revolutionizing the world of robotics, one “paw” at a time. SpotMini, the company’s robodog, is now dexterous enough to not only open a door, but to also hold it ajar for its friend #machinemagic

Do you remember a robotic dog cleaning dishes? A while ago, that bot was the perfect blend of an actual dog and a butler. Now, SpotMini is back and has a couple more tricks up its “tail”. Alphabet’s former robotics company, now owned by SoftBank after a pricy deal, has shared a video of its shenanigans on its YouTube channel.

In it, we can see SpotMini carefully tread until a closed blue door. Instead of having difficulties advancing though, as many other clumsy bots have, the quadruped goes confidently towards it and uses an extra arm to open it. Yep, Boston Dynamics accessorized it with an arm that stretches from its head to turn the handle.

That’s not all – the robodog has manners, as we can see in the video below:

Did you see how it uses a limb to keep the door ajar and the arm to push it to the wall? It’s quite the feat, don’t you think?
