Cars are running the show. This becomes increasingly clear as the first day of CES 2018 rolls along. Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Mitsubishi are just a couple of companies who have clearly brought their “A” game to the city of sin. Mercedes Benz is present at the event with two gorgeous vehicles, the AMG One hypercar and the all-electric EQA concept car #automagic
While neither is making its press debut today, in Las Vegas, they are definitely a novelty for many visitors. The AMG Project One is impressive, no matter the angle you look at it from. The fierce hypercar carries over 1,000 horsepower in a lightweight package with two seats. You’ll definitely get Formula One vibes, if you look at it closely. But it’s not just the exterior that dazzles, the tech employed is equally astounding.
The AMG One is definitely a contender to the Tesla throne. It can accelerate to 125 mph in less than 6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 217 mph. I’m told it benefits from four electric motors and it can regenerate up to 80& of its braking force to then recharge the batteries. If you want a silent ride, that’s not at all harmful for the environment, you can rely only on electric power for about 16 miles (25 km).
Alternatively, Mercedes Benz is ready to talk your ear off about Concept EQA. This all-electric vehicle has two electric motors and a range of 400 km (or 250 miles/charge). It has a more futuristic design than the Project One, thanks to a panoramic glass roof. If it reaches the market, it will take owners about 10 minutes to charge it enough to drive 62 miles. As for acceleration power, Mercedes Benz says it can go from 8 to 62 mph in less than five seconds.
There are two driving modes available – Sport and Sport Plus. Each of them has a lighting profile, shown in the front virtual grille. Here, LED strips change colors (from red to blue) according to the mode chosen. The engineers’ vision for the future is present on the sides and the bumper, as well.
Mercedes-Benz is definitely putting its signature on the automotive landscape. We’re excited to see who else will gain a place in our “Best Concept Cars” top.
