There’s no shortage of smart home and audio devices on the showroom floor at IFA 2019 but Definitive Technology managed to grab our attention with the newly-unveiled Studio Slim.
This stylish soundbar would be the understated accent for any home entertainment set-up, with just 44 mm in height, but it does more than just sit there and look pretty.
The Definitive Technology Studio Slim is a 3.1-inch offering with a one inch dome tweeter and three 4-inch drivers, each with their own amplifier.
For convenience, you’ll find a one button EQ letting you select presets for movies, music and night time mode with the bass at more “don’t disturb the neighbors” levels.
It has HDMI ARC in but unfortunately skips the 4K HDR passthrough and goodies like DTS:X or Dolby Atmos.
However, it does feature Chromecast support, letting you stream your music and movies via your favorite service, whether it’s Spotify, Tidal, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or the BBC iPlayer.
Of course, no soundbar in 2019 could possibly skip voice assistants, so Definite Technology also included support for Google Assistant via your phone or a Google Home device.
The Studio Slim will hit the shelves this November and retail for $1,000.
