DJI just announced their Osmo Action, the first waterproof, shockproof action camera with a front-facing LCD screen, able to venture 11m under the water.
What makes it truly special is the full-color front display, that eliminates the guesswork when working on videos or images in which you are not able to visualize the rear display.
The front display is 1.4 inches, while the rear is 2.2-inch and is outfitted with a water- and fingerprint-repellent coating.
The front-facing LCD is next to a lens with f/2.8 aperture, able to capture images with a 145-degree field of view. The lens is protected with anti-reflective coating and two separate anti-fingerprint coatings, for extra care.
The device also features a 12MP sensor designed for raw and JPEG stills and debuts an electronic image stabilization system named RockSteady. It’s pretty brilliant and works even with 4K@60fps.
Indeed, 4K HDR video is available, along recording modes like TimeLapse or 4x/8x Slo-Mo options. There’s also Voice Control and Wi-fi, working in sync with the DJI Mino app.
