It’s long been a joke that the best way to find Reddit content is on Google but now that’s finally set to change.
For the first time in the platform’s history, a search comments on Reddit functionality will be available.
Until now, to search for a Reddit comment would be either to remember the thread in which it was posted, then endlessly scroll, or input some keywords and add “reddit.com” to a Google search.
Now, you’ll simply use the Reddit Search, which will index comments, not just posts and subreddit communities.
Since Reddit’s inception over a decade ago, Reddit users wanted the ability to search comments on Reddit, instead of on Google or third-party apps launched by helpful redditors.
In a user survey from last year, Reddit says that the ability to search Reddit comments was the most popular choice. During initial testing, 26,000 users used the feature to scour through five billion comments.
The only downside? The ability to search for Reddit comments only works on Reddit’s desktop version, not on any of the official or unofficial apps.
If you wanna do a very specific Reddit search when doing research, you can also try Redditsearch.io. This tool lets you filter through posts and comments, and sort them by dae, subreddits and domains.
