Fitbit Versa Leak Suggests Alexa Support

Evan Blass

The Fitbit Versa, back when it launched, arrived with not only an affordable price tag but also offered a better design and battery life when compared to its predecessor, the Fitbit Ionic. Fitbit learned from its mistakes and improved on the Ionic design in terms of both design and software and ended up delivering a product a lot of people were satisfied with.

Now Fitbit is on its way to introduce Versa’s successor, if these new leaked images from renowned leakster Evan Blass are to be believed (he is rarely wrong though). By the looks of it, the next Fitbit Versa might just give the Apple Watch a bit run for its money.

The smartwatch’s design is softer around the edges and will most likely feature an updated display that, instead of LCD, might turn to AMOLED technology. By giving up on placing the company’s logo on the screen, there will be more display real estate available for the users now, which is great news. The display blends in seamlessly around the bezel in a fluid design.

The company chose to get rid of the two buttons that were previously placed on the side of the wearable so the users will only have one button to help them navigate the UI, aside from the touchscreen itself.

One of the best news for this watch though is the fact that it might arrive with Amazon’s Alexa, which would definitely give it that extra bit of ‘oomph’ to help it surpass the Apple Watch. While Apple’s device does feature Siri, it’s well known that she is not all that great at helping out, at least not at the level Alexa is.

Other features will include the company’s PurePulse heart rate sensor, the Fitbit Pay system and a 50 meter water resistance rating.

For now, take these images with a bit of a grain of salt – Fitbit has not even officially announced a new Versa is coming so, when it does, the device that we will see might turn out to be a bit different, on the software side at least.

Fitbit is focused on fitness tracking though, so we’ll definitely see some improvements over the previous Versa watch and a new feature or two. However, at this time, we can only speculate. But usually, when a big leak like this springs out in the open, it’s usually followed by an official announcement quite soon.
