Samsung Unpacked is one of the most anticipated events of the year, as far as smartphones and wearables go. While there’s been plenty of leaks and rumors about Samsung’s upcoming smartphones, the company will also be launching a new set of Galaxy earbuds alongside its flagship phones.
We didn’t have a lot of info about the earbuds but now, thanks to a developer called Tim Schneeberger, we do.
Schneeberger got a hold of the Galaxy Buds 2 companion app – he discovered it on Samsung’s update server. This is by no means the final version of the app but it pretty much shows the earbuds in all their glory as the leak also includes rendered images that confirm their design and color options.
We now know that the Galaxy Buds 2 will come in black, white, gray, purple and yellow color variants. In earlier leaks, we’ve seen the green and purple variants but these new renders show slightly more muted colors, which are probably closer to how they look in reality.
In addition to that, the APK files also revealed some of the features of the earbuds. Some of them include noise controls for active noise cancellation as well as ambient sound, customizable tap settings, notifications that can be read out loud and, of course, an equalizer.
It’s more or less standard stuff and a somewhat watered-down version of the features available for the Galaxy Buds Pro.
The battery section seems to have received a redesign as well. We can tell from the app screenshots that each headset will have a 61mAh battery, which means that the case should have a capacity of around 472mAh.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 will debut alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 on the 11th of August.
We’re bound to get more leaks until then and, as always, we’ll keep you posted.
