Google Maps recently got an update, which has been two years in the making: now it can tell you the speed limits wherever you might be as well as point out the speed cameras you will encounter.
The feature initially rolled out to a limited number of users earlier last week but now it will slowly become available all around the globe. At the moment, it’s being released to users in the United States, United Kingdom and Denmark.
The speed cameras bit on the other hand, will roll out for users in the United Stated, United Kingdom, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, India and Indonesia. An audio alert will start playing when the users are approaching the cameras.
Back in October Google also rolled out a “commute” tab on Google Maps, which offers the users live traffic updates and other transit information in some areas. Android users also receive notifications about delays and disruptions on their route and are offered alternative routes, where possible.
With all these updates coming out, I’m sure most of us are grateful for a helping hand in traffic, especially those who live in busy, metropolitan areas, so: thank you, Google.
