Google Photos Uses AI to Colorize Old Photographs

Google Photos seems to be stepping up the game for all current and future photo apps with all the new features that were disclosed at the Google I/O.

By far the most interesting one is the AI-related one. Artificial intelligence can now be used in Google Photos to not only detect subjects in photographs and suggest improvements for your photos, but also to colorize old, black and white photos.

The software was updated to now inspect the photograph and then produce a colorized version of it.

Furthermore, the AI can also recognize images of documents and convert them into PDF files, an addition that has been received with instant applause from the public at the Google I/O conference. Priorities, right?

There are also new organizational features and noteworthy editing tools. Couple that with the app’s most popular capability, the one that lets you back up your video and photo files for free, and you have a remarkable photo app for both Android users and iOS fans.

Google did not mention when the new features would actually roll out, but judging by the public’s enthusiastic reaction, everyone hopes it will happen soon!
