How to Change Your Airpods Name (& Other Useful Tips)

Want to change your Airpods name to something funny? Or maybe you plan to sell your Airpods and want to dissociate them with your device? Follow these quick and easy steps we outlined below and voila! 

How to rename Airpods in any device

To rename your AirPods on an iPhone or iPad, just open the Settings app.

Then, tap the name of your AirPods and you can enter a new name. Tap Done and that’s it!

If you’re on Mac and want to change the name of your AirPods, you will want to launch System Preferences.

Then, click the Bluetooth pane, select the AirPods and click on the “i” icon. You can then enter a new name for your AirPods.

You can also change your Airpods name on Android. 

Just long-tap the Bluetooth icon in the pull-down menu. That will open Settings, where you can turn on Bluetooth. From the list of paired devices, select your AirPods to rename them by tapping the pencil icon.

How to “forget” Airpods on your device

If you want to sell your AirPods or maybe to a clean reset of everything, you’ll have to tell your devices to “forget” your Airpods – basically, you just have to unpair the AirPods. Here’s how:

Forget your AirPods on iPhone or iPad

To unpair your AirPods from an iPhone or iPad, go to the Settings app and select the Bluetooth icon.

Tap the “i” icon next to your AirPods in the Devices list, then choose Forget This Device.

Forget your AirPods on Mac

To unpair your AirPods from a Mac (you usually want to do this if it’s a shared work comouter), you have to open System Preferences. Then, select the Bluetooth pane and choose your Airpods model. Click the “i” icon and that will let you select Forget This Device.

Forget your AirPods On Android

If you paired your AirPods with an Android phone and want to unpair them, open the pull-down menu on the phone. Then, long-press the Bluetooth icon and turn on Bluetooth. In the list of paired devices, you’ll see your AirPods with a small gear icon near them. 

Tap it and you’ll be prompted with an option to forget your Airpods. It’s also here you have the option to ring your earbuds in case you misplaced them around the house.
