The HTC U12 does not look too different than all the other smartphones out there, but its outer construction is interesting – the case is made of acrylic glass, with a back cover that has two different finishes: the top side is nice and clear, like a mirror, while the bottom part sports a patterned texture that keeps the fingerprints at bay while also increasing the grip on the device.
It hosts a dual camera with a 16MP sensor and a secondary 5MP that can record videos in 4K at 30fps.
As far as the front of the phone goes, it comes with a 6 inch screen with a Full-HD resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It holds an LED flash equipped with a 12MP sensor. On the inside we have a Snapdragon 636 coupled up with 4GB of RAM.
The phone will be available in two colors: Moonlight Blue and Twilight Purple.
The phone will allegedly come with a price tag to fit the device in the mid-range smartphone market. How it’s going to fare over there remains to be seen, as the mid-range branch is already quite crowded, with a lot of good devices available at the most basic prices from other popular companies like Samsung and Huawei.
