Huawei’s time in the spotlight at MWC Shanghai 2018 was dedicated to revealing the company’s plans for 5G compatibility.

Huawei Rotating Chairman Eric Xu announced that its HiSilicon subsidiary will launch a 5G-compatible Kirin chipset by March 2019. Ok, but what about smartphones?

The company says it’s aiming to bring a Huawei 5G smartphone as early as June 2019, because, of course, everyone wants better speeds.

Xu Zhijun also focused on the security aspects of 5G, not just the speed benefits. He talked about the fact that 5G allows the integration of a stronger encryption algorithm, something that, combined with the latest authentication methods, will bring about a true revolution.

Until then, sit back and enjoy the 5G-enabled coffee-making robot that MWC Shangai visitors got to see in action.
