While Huawei has not brought a flagship device at MWC 2018, the company made ripples with the Huawei MateBook X Pro.
The laptop gives the MacBook a run for its money with incredibly thin bezels – the MateBook X pro features a 91% screen-to-body ratio. We have to say, the 13.9 inches LTPS (3000 x 2000 px) display looks gorgeous. However, it has a major drawback for those who rely on video chat to communicate.
To further thin the bezels, Huawei had to move the camera in a somewhat unfortunate position: it’s built into the keyboard so it might offer some unflattering upwards angles. It’s also just 1MP, so account for that as well.
Under the hood, the MateBook X Pro offers three options:
- Core i5 CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD
- Core 15 CPU, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB NVMe SSD
- Core i7 CPU 16 GB, 512 GB NVMe SSD
All of these come with a Nvidia GeFore MX150, 2 GB GDDR5 card. For memory, there’s an 8GB and a 16 GB option.
Pricing starts at €1499 / $1850 for the lowest spec version and goes up to €1899 / around $2350 for the full bells and whistle. It’s a bit higher than the original MateBook X but the specs make up for it.
There’s still time to save up because Huawei has not offered a launch date other than an unclear Q2 2018.
