One of the most underrated sci-fi movies of all time might be getting a new chance at life, with a Reel Steel TV show on Disney+.
The Hugh Jackman movie about robot boxing came out in 2011 and slowly became a cult classic, which might give it a chance at a sequel.
According to Deadline, the Reel Steel TV show is in the works but it’s not clear if it will have Jackman’s character return or if this series will be an original story in the same setting.
In the movie, Hugh Jackman and Dakota Goyo played a father and son who, after finding an old robot in a junkyard, fix it up to enter the arena in robot boxing.
A fresh sci-fi angle and a heartwarming story about the relationship between a father and son, the story does have a lot of potential as a TV series.
The Deadline report also says the original director Shawn Levy is back this time as a producer, alongside Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, Jacqueline Levine, Susan Montford, and Don Murphy.
