Kanye West is about to change the game of releasing a new album, and why are not surprised?
DONDA 2 is set to release on February 22 (2.22.22), but fans won’t be able to stream the album as expected, but with the costs of $200.
Apple Music was apparently set to stream his upcoming album event in Miami, but things took a different turn when the artist announced via a text screenshot shared on Instagram that Donda 2 will not be made available to streaming services.
“After 10 albums after being under 10 contracts. I turned down a hundred million dollar Apple deal. No one can pay me to be disrespected. We set our own price for our art. Tech companies made music practically free so if you don’t do merch sneakers and tours you don’t eat,” Kanye said.
“This is our 2nd generation stem player We have more things we working on. I feel like how I felt in the first episode of the documentary,” he concluded in the post.
With that in mind, the artist revealed a new music gadget – the Donda Stem Player. The device will apparently let you “customize any song,” and it’s available for preorder now for $200 along with Donda 2, Kanye’s upcoming album.
The device is equipped with a headphone jack and Bluetooth support, USB-C port, a haptic engine, volume buttons, speakers, and has 8GB of storage. More details are available on the product’s website.
