A while ago, Xiaomi president Lin Bin had posted the first render of the Mi Mix 3 phone on his Weibo account, which revealed a slider mechanism. Now management director Donovan Sung followed up that render with an actual photo of the device, posted on his Twitter account.

Sung also confirmed in a follow-up tweet that the phone will come with 5G support.

We’ve successfully tested 5G data connections on Xiaomi phones, and we can’t wait for the official rollout of 5G next year! 🎉🎉

5G download speeds are more than 10X faster than 4G speeds. What’s everyone looking forward to the most? ⚡⚡️⚡️

The Mi Mix 3 seems to look just like the previously released render, though we cannot see the slider mechanism on the back.

It is not the only device that will support 5G which will hit the markets soon – the Moto Z3 will be compatible via Moto Mod, while Huawei and LG have also announced they plan to release 5G phones sometime next year.

I can say we’re all looking forward to see how the new devices will perform when 5G becomes more widely available.
