It’s not all doom and gloom at Xiaomi, even though the company is facing difficulties in sourcing chipsets.
This latest report says that the first Xiaomi foldable phone might push the envelope in other aspects too – it will have a liquid lens camera.
According to him, this lens you can see in the picture will act more like the human eye sees – the liquid inside the lens will be controlled by a motor developed in-house, which will allow it to focus faster and more precise.
The formation speed of that liquid lens is faster than the mechanical controls of a traditional optical lens, says Jun, and offers another major advantage: the liquid lens can act as both the telephoto and the macro lens.
Even more, that optical fluid is also resistant to extreme environments.
Right now, we know Xiaomi will soon hold an event to unveil the Mi 11 Pro and the Mi 11 Ultra but they could have more surprises on the way.
Some reports point to the first Xiaomi foldable phone coming soon, which could be part of the Mi Mix line, since the company did use the branding in past years to tease concepts like wraparound displays.
As BGR points out, Chinese regulator MIIT has certified an upcoming Xiaomi handset with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, which are flagship specs…and could definitely belong to the first Xiaomi foldable!
