Recently, Microsoft updated its bug bounty program and is now covering the Xbox Live network and services too. Therefore, Microsoft is willing to reward people who can find security vulnerabilities in the Xbox Live system.
“The Xbox bounty program invites gamers, security researchers, and technologists around the world to help identify security vulnerabilities in the Xbox network and services, and share them with the Microsoft Xbox team through Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure (CVD). Eligible submissions with a clear and concise proof of concept (POC) are eligible for awards up to US$20,000,” a Microsoft Security Response Center blog post stated.
There are a few essential conditions for the participants, to have an Xbox network account, and preferably access to an Xbox with an Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Gold.
In the bug bounty program, participants agree to provide information regarding the system’s vulnerabilities to the company so that they can fix the security loopholes and get it over with. The errors or bugs they will find must be reported in written or video format to Microsoft.
Even from a low-quality report, participants can get about $1,000, and in best cases they can earn up to $20,000 for a report concerning an important vulnerability.
