Top Gun: Maverick is now in theaters, so Microsoft and Asobo Studio have launched the matching Microsoft Flight Simulator expansion.
The free update contains a Top Gun: Maverick Edition live for the F/A-18E Super Hornet, three training missions for the Super Hornet, and an aircraft carrier landing challenge.
With these training missions, players will experience unrestricted take-offs, high-speed maneuvering, as well as low altitude stunts that are so routine in Top Gun: Maverick.
The surprise element is the Darkstar – the fictional hypersonic aircraft from the movie, able to climb above 150,000 feet. That’s a big deal, since the SR-71 Blackbird didn’t handle a sustained flight beyond 85,000 feet.
All the five challenges are centered around flying very low and very fast, while one requires players to land on an aircraft carrier.
Moreover, users can also enjoy a new mission that takes their flights into the stratosphere. The Microsoft Flight Simulator’s Top Gun: Maverick is now available in the game for players who’ve downloaded the free expansion.
