Mobvoi, one of the most innovative players in the smartwatch arena, just debuted its second generation of the TicWatch Pro, with 4G and LTE.
Yes, the rumors were true!
As the name says, the TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE brings the coveted ability to do VoLTE calls, text messages or 911 dials, though that is a feature that will be available a month after launch and only for Verizon customers.
In terms of specs, Mobvoi seems to have doubled down on the features that made the WearOS-enabled TicWatch Pro such a hit.
The dual-screen technology is back, which means you’ll be able to use the watch both in Smart Mode, with the bright OLED screen, or in Essential Mode, switching to a LED that uses less power and extends battery life for up to 30 days.
What’s totally new is Number Sharing and Cloud Synchronization, two features that let you receive important messages from your smartphone without tethering it.
Alongside them also comes a new health AI Assistant dubbed TicPulse, which continuously tracks your heart rate in the background.
As for the upgrades, you’ll find plenty of improved features, one being the TicMotion 2.0, for automatic workout tracking with no user input.
That works to detect workouts like running and fast-walking, though Mobvoi plans to deploy swim tracking as well, to take advantage of the smartwatch’s IP68+ water resistant rating.
The new Mobvoi’s ruggedness factor is significantly upped by the Gorilla Glass 3 covering for the screens and the military standard 810G rating, which means it can handle sand and dust, shocks or temperatures between -30 °C and 70 °C.
Because the TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE is a WearOS device, you also get Google Assistant and Google Pay to simplify your day to day life.
As for the looks, the stainless steel bezel is complimented by interchangeable, 22 mm wide silicone straps.
