Smartphones have reached an all time high in terms of breakthrough tech and functionalities. Still, they remain pretty fragile and easy to break from the first drop. Of course, there are always rugged cases which can protect the handsets, but most are not very flattering.
The alternative are armored phones, like the ones from Blackview, designed to survive the worst conditions.
Blackview phones cater to active people, like physical workers or extreme sports lovers. The company’s latest additions are the BV9700 Pro and the pocket-friendly BV5500 Pro.
The BV5500 Pro features a clean design, with a back arch towards its edges for an ergonomic grip, while the BV9700 Pro’s is Transformers-inspired, featuring symmetrical accents and harsh edges.
Ingress-protected and rated for IP68 and IP69k, the phones can withstand dust and submersion, but most importantly high temperatures! The company’s mission from the very beginning was to prove that not all armored phones are plain ugly and bulky.
Both devices benefit from the new ultra-wide display standard. The BV9700 Pro features a 5.84-inch diagonal, while the BV5500 Pro has a 5.5-inch one.
In terms of hardware, the BV9700 Pro runs on the MediaTek Helio P70 octa-core processor and has a 4,380 mAh battery. The dual camera on the back is Samsung-made with 16 MP and 8 MP lenses for your bokeh shots. On the front, you can find another 16 MP Samsung sensor.
Other important features include built-in heart-rate and blood pressure monitors. The air quality analyzer and air pressure sensor makes the difference for professionals who work in dangerous environments.
The device is also able to take shots in the night, due to its night sight camera mode.
The BV5500 Pro is more budget-friendly, employing the MediaTek MT6739 processor. It has 3GB of RAM and incorporates a 4,400 mAh battery with a dual camera module on the back which consist of an 8 MP Sony-made main camera and a secondary 5MP one.
The BV5500 Pro can be pre-ordered for $91 while the premium one can be purchased with a 30% discount through the IndieGoGo campaign.
