It was rumored that a Nintendo Direct was on the horizon for this week. Either instead of or in addition to, we got a surprise Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase.
A major theme of the this Partner Showcase was music and rhythm. Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory (November 13th), FUSER (Fall 2020), Taiko No Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack (Winter 2020), and Just Dance 2021 (November 12) all are related to music. Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory turns Kingdom Hearts into a rhythm based game as the player goes through iconic Disney and Kingdom Hearts locations. Taiko No Tatsujin minigames already exist on the switch, but the Rhythmic Adventure Pack uses the rhythm formula and turns it into an RPG. Finally, Just Dance 2021 continues the series but with 40 new songs.
Final Fantasy also had a lot of representation with both Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend (December 15) and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition (August 27th). The former is a collection of the three Final Fantasy Legend games and Crystal Chronicles was previously announced.
Other games announced at the Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase:
- World of Tanks Blitz (Later Today)
- Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions (Spring 2021)
- Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 (December 8)
- Minecraft Dungeons Creeping Winter DLC (September 2020)
- Jump Force Deluxe Edition (August 28th)
- Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions (August 28th)
While these games reach a broad range of audiences, hopefully we’ll still get a more first-party centered Direct soon!
