On December 18, 2021, NIO Day 2021 was held in Suzhou where the NIO ET5, a mid-size smart electric sedan, was unveiled.
The vehicle features pure and precise exterior design emphasized with organic touches, incorporating the concept of “Design for AD”.
ET5 integrates high-performance autonomous driving sensors into its design, while its muscular sides inspired by the supercar EP9 give it a youthful and dynamic appearance.
The car includes built-in support for autonomous driving features and drivers get a “digital cockpit” due to Neal-developed augmented reality glasses. The automaker has teamed with Nolo to make VR glasses.
NIO ET5 comes with the latest NIO Autonomous Driving (NAD), meaning the car will gradually achieve a safe and reassuring autonomous driving experience in scenarios such as highways, urban areas, or parking. Due to NIO’s high-performance DNA, the ET5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.
Deliveries are expected to begin in September and the Nio ET5 will be approximately the price of Tesla’s Model 3.
