One of the most promising wearables we’ve seen in the past year, the Nubia Alpha, just hit the virtual shelves and comes with a pretty good deal.
The wearable smartphone is now available in both Europe and the US on the official website. Those 50 lucky people who are the first to get the Explorer Package will snag the Nubia Alpha for $449/€449 and get a free pair of the Bluetooth Nubia Pods.
Powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2100 found in most smartwatches of the year and 1GB of RAM, the Nubia Alpha comes with a new, custom OS designed to truly make it feel like a wearable smartphone, allowing both air gestures and voice commands.
Multi-touch is of course also available on the 4.01-inch screen with a 192 x 960 resolution. All of this is powered by a 500 mAh battery that promises up to 48h.
Beyond the specs, the Nubia Alpha will definitely draw attention to the wearer’s wrist, especially if they choose to take photos with it.
Yes, it’s not just an oversized smartwatch as we thought back at MWC. It’s fair to call it a wearable smartphone, as it also features a 5 MP, f/2.2 aperture camera that takes some surprisingly decent photos.
