Move over soulmates and random Tinder swipes, the Pheramor DNA dating app might be the next big thing! Pheramor might sound like it’s simply a wordplay on “pheromones,” but it goes a bit further than that. Instead of relying on swipes or filtering through a list of preferences, Pheramor uses genetic testing to find your perfect match! #mobilemagic
To get started, you have to swab the inside of your cheek for DNA samples. Then, you send your DNA sample to Pheramor, who analyzes it and lines up potential dates with whom you share a genetic compatibility score. This score is based both on your DNA and your social media likes.
“Pheramor uses both your biology and your social technology; we collect your genetic data through a Q-tip-like cheek swab and acquire your like, dislikes, and interests from your social media profiles like Facebook, Twitter, etc,” says the official website.
The newly announced dating app will launch in Houston this week and already has a few thousand users signed up, even though common sense (and science) will raise a few flags.
If you’re interested in trying, just bear in mind that the DNA swabbing kit is $15.99 and there’s also a monthly subscription fee.
