A legacy PlayStation console looks to be phased out 16 years after it first released.

As reported by VGC, PlayStation Japan’s official Twitter account has posted that due to the lack of parts, repair services for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 3 peripherals will be ending on April 30th.

Until that day, Japanese users can apply for repairs or send the product in before the April 30th deadline. At the same time, the company did note that based on availabilities of parts, some repairs may only be possible while supplies last.

The original PlayStation 3 launched in 2006 with slimmer versions releasing in 2009 and 2012.

Given how long it has been since the PlayStation 3 launched, it perhaps makes sense that repair services are finally seeing an end.
