When Pokémon GO released in 2016, it became an immediate sensation. The ability to catch some of your favorite Pokémon like Pikachu or Charizard in the real world brought some childhood dreams to life. With the latest update, even more Pokémon are now available to users.
In an announcement made on Pokémon GO’s official YouTube channel, Generation 5 Pokémon will now be available to find and catch. This means Pokémon from the following games (regions in parenthesis) are represented: Red/Blue/Yellow (Kanto), Gold/Silver/Crystal (Johto), Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald (Hoenn), Diamond/Pearl/Platinum (Sinnoh), and Black/White (Unova).
This update is part of Pokémon GO’s continual effort to keep the game exciting. Since launch, new features have slowly been rolled out, including new Pokémon, Trainer Battles, and Raid Battles.
