PS VR2 Headset Design Revealed!

PC: PlayStation

The PlayStation VR 2 design has finally been revealed!

As announced on PlayStation.Blog, the second-generation VR headset and controllers take on a nice and clean orb-like design. The color selection heavily matches the two-tone white-black aesthetic of the PS5, clearly pointing to both their futuristic and next-generation qualities.

The similarities between the PS5 and PS VR2 don’t end there as the tiny little PlayStation symbols found on the PS5 and DualSense can also be found on the front and back headbands.

At the same time, the design decisions for the PS VR2 were not just aesthetic as the design team kept function and quality of experience in mind.

The PS VR2 kept the overall balanced of the PS VR as well as the adjustable headband to ensure comfort while use.

The adjustable scope (for moving the scope area and stereo headphone jack closer or further away from the face) remains the same.

New features to the PS VR2 include a lens adjustment dial so that players can adjust even the lens distance between eyes. Additionally, there is a “new built-in motor for the headset feedback.”

At the same time, the overall design has been made slightly slimmer both in design and in weight.

Finally, the team integrated a new vent design with the intention of “creating a vent in the headset to let air out, similar to the vents on the PS5 console that allows airflow… This idea [was added] as a good way to allow ventilation and avoid having the lens fog up while players are immersed in their VR games.”

It is still unclear when PS VR 2 will launch but when it does, it will perhaps be one of the most stylish and feature-filled VR headsets on the market to date!
