One of the most well-known names in the gaming world, Razer, is testing smartphone waters now. According to some reports, the gaming hardware company is working on a smartphone for gamers #mobilemagic
Bloomberg reports that at the end of the year Razer will go through an IPO (initial public offering) in Hong Kong. The company is hoping that this will generate enough funds to build and promote its own smartphone. The offer could value Razer at $5 billion.
There’s no word on Razer’s vision for this smartphone, only that it will target its consumers that are proud to call themselves hardcore gamers. If everything goes to plan, the smartphone should be out in 2018, at the earliest since the IPO is happening in October.
At the beginning of this year, Razer made the first move that would point to a interest in the smartphone market. They bought Nextbit, mentioning that this firm would retain its independent status. Since then, though, there haven’t been any updates regarding their integration. So, it’s unclear whether the smartphone would be launched under the Razer or the Nextbit brand.
What features should Razer’s phone have to make it relevant today? Especially to gamers?
