Redmi Introduces Its First Laptop: The RedmiBook 14

Redmi

Redmi is currently attempting to dip its fingers in other tech branches, like laptops. The company just announced its most recent smartphone yesterday, the Redmi K20 and, alongside it, the RedmiBook 14 laptop.

If we’re to judge it solely by the specs sheet, it’s going to provide quite the performance with an affordable price tag.

To begin with, the RedmiBook 14, as it has been dubbed, features a 14-inch Full HD IPS panels with minimal bezels and an 81.2% screen-to-body ratio.

The users will get to choose bwteen an 8th Generation ultra-low voltage Core i7 or Core i5 Chips but regardless of your choice, you’ll still get the Nvidia Geforce MX250 with 2GB of GDDr5 memory under the hood of your laptop.

Both models also feature two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, a HDMI port, a 3.5mm jack, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. They also come with two vents beneath the keyboard that manage the thermals.

According to Redmi, the laptop can keep going for up to 10 hours of offline video playback or 7 hours of video streaming or 11 hours of web browsing and that it can charge from zero to 50% in just 35 minutes.

It weighs around 1.5Kg (3.3 pounds) thanks to its metal chassis, a weight that is absolutely manageable, and a 17.95mm thickness.

The laptop has only been announced in China and will be available for sale as of June 11th but perhaps we can expect third-party sellers to make it available to the rest of us a month or so later.

However, we can expect the company to launch a global variant sooner or later as well, considering that Xiaomi’s plans for Redmi are generally focused on helping the sub-brand grow outside China.

The starting price for the laptop is of CNY 3,999 for the Core i5 with 256SSD option while the 512GB SSD will cost CNY 300 more. Or, you could choose to go with the high-end Core i7 model with 512GB SSD for CNY 4,000, which means that it will make your wallet $720 lighter.
