A China Times report spotted by MacRumors claims that Apple is gearing up to launch the iPad mini 5 in the next few months.
For those not keeping up with models, this would be the first time Apple upgraded its iPad mini (pictured above) since 2015. The only update in that interval was on price, which was sliced to $399 in 2017.
Now, apparently Apple is reviving the model in the hopes to pump iPad sales, which have declined in the last year.
This mirrors Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s comments from October, who said that Apple will launch a new iPad mini in late 2018 or early 2019.
The same China Times report also says that the second half of 2018 will see the launch of two cheaper iPads.
Apparently, the tablets will be more affordable because Apple will switch from Japanese-made LED displays to Korean-made ones.
