Russian might have a case of a runaway robot on their hands. One Promobot has tried to escape the facility where he was made several times… unsuccessfully #machinemagic
One AI robot is about to be “terminated” by the people that created it, if it keeps escaping the Perm Laboratories. Last month, reports say that a researcher working there left his office without closing the door completely and the robot made its way to the exit, walking 150 feet onto a nearby street, before running out of battery. It just stood there for 40 minutes, before it was taken back home.
Now, this is not the first time this rebel robot wants to be free of people and live its life. Seeing his weird attempts won’t stop, the team behind Promobot IR77 is considering disposing of it – after all, what client would want to hire an insubordinate robot?!
Of course, this could all be a promotional stunt to increase awareness about the next generation of Promobots, set to debut this year at US$7,000. It would only make sense to give this Promobot more human-like traits – as a rebellious side – in order to make clients more keen on having one at home. One which could serve as a tour guide, promoter or administrator.
What do you think – was it orchestrated or not?
