When we’ve told you Samsung is keeping busy, we were not joking: the company has filed patents for a smart shoe technology as well as one for a smart shirt that can diagnose asthma, pneumonia and more.
The newest patent brings Samsung back to smartphones – this particular patent was actually filed at the end of 2017 but, interestingly, it’s only now that it has been made public.
Uncovered by LetsGoDigital, the patent suggests that the device will fold up in the middle and create two displays on either side. When unfolded, of course, it will become a square-shaped screen, much like a tablet would.
The interesting bit is that this smartphone features actual game controls on the side. They can be flipped over when not in use but we can clearly see a D-Pad on the left side and other six buttons on the right side.
LetsGoDigital created some 3D renders based on the patented drawings, which you can see below, if you’re curious how this type of device might look like, more realistically rendered.
As we know with all patents, filing one doesn’t mean that the product will actually ever see the light of day, but it is an interesting design to consider.
What do you think? Odd contraption or amazing device?
