Recently, Samsung Pay users reported that the app no longer works on non-Samsung devices and it now displays an “ID not valid” error when signing in on a non-Samsung device.
According to the user report, Samsung Pay was working just fine until a few weeks ago when the errors started, and it has created discomfort for users who relied on Samsung Pay for payments on non-Samsung devices, and or for those using Galaxy Watch 4 when connected to a non-Samsung phone.
Reports on Reddit and the Samsung Community forums say Samsung Pay users who do not have a Galaxy smartphone can no longer log into the app and will receive the mentioned “ID not valid” error.
Although it seems unlikely, Samsung’s customer support has reportedly noted that Samsung Pay will no longer operate on non-Samsung devices, but there is no official statement on the issue yet.
It seems like after Samsung stopped equipping its phones with MST, interest in its mobile payment app has declined, and if the company makes Samsung Pay exclusive to Samsung phones, it might reduce even more.
