Samsung S8 Leaked User Guide Reveals Three New Features

Today is the day, guys! In a couple of hours, Samsung will officially announce the Galaxy S8, the device that can erase past blunders and make us excited for the South Korean’s vision once again. If you thought leaks would cease at this point in the game, you’re sorely mistaken. In fact, the entire user guide just leaked online and although a big part of it was already well-known, three new features popped into view #mobilemagic

The leak happened on Samsung download center but it was quickly disabled. Phandroid, though, was faster than the company and got a glimpse of the main functions the Galaxy S8 comes with. Apart from the expected Always-On Display and Edge functions that the curved screen naturally enables, we got a glimpse of will Bixby do exactly:

  • based on usage patterns, the virtual assistant will provide up-to-date weather notifications, reminders and apps you might like or information that might be useful to you
  • by scanning objects or locations via cam, Bixby Vision (one of the three novelties we were talking about) is going to be able to find their online locations; this feature is also the one that is going to take care of translating foreign texts
  • videos, photos, links and to-do lists that you want to view later will be Bixby’s responsabilities

The guide mentions all three biometric authentication systems we covered a while ago here, a way to keep your data private (Secure Folder) and your passwords safe in Samsung Pass. But the other two features we hadn’t heard about are closely linked to connectivity.

The new Galaxy S8 will give you the possibility to connect the smartphone to an external display, in a way that turns the phone into a computer. Samsung DeX will help you use the power and features of the phone to play games or videos without squinting at the small screen. Bluetooth Dual audio, another feature, is set to let you stream audio to one or two speakers simultaneously, adjusting the volume differently for each one.

The rest is pretty well-known and if you want to check the whole list for yourself, go here.  Otherwise, stay tuned: at 8:00 PDT, Samsung S8 is going to go live and we’ll be waiting for you with the whole story!
