Samsung Surpassed Apple In System Chips Sold

Known for manufacturing smartphones, Samsung also makes its own components like memory chip, camera sensors or processors. And the company’s chip business is constantly growing, according to the latest smartphone SoC report from Counterpoint Research.

The report reveals that Samsung has surpassed Apple on the number of Exynos chips sold, being the third behind Qualcomm and MediaTek.

Qualcomm is on the top with a 33.4% market share, MediaTek with 24.6%, Samsung and Apple with 14.1% and 13.1%.

The report also highlights the fact that of the top five SoC smartphone brands only Huawei and Samsung have shown significant growth.

Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra run on Exynos 990, while midrange smartphones use Exynos 9611 or Exynos 980.

The chipsets can be found not only in Samsung smartphones but on other brands like Vivo, or Motorola as well.
